PA Volunteer Laws
Per Pennsylvania law, all coaches and volunteers that participate in youth sports activities, whether practices, games, warmups, or other are required to have unexpired background clearance documents on file with the Springfield Basketball Club.
Background clearance documents must be submitted to and approved by the Springfield Basketball Club prior to your participation in any team activity. Once approved, clearances are good for a 5-year period and thereafter must be resubmitted. Please make sure you have all 3 documents listed below before uploading to our secure portal.
1. State Police Criminal Clearance
Volunteers can obtain this document online, at no cost, from PATCH (Pennsylvania Access to Criminal History). Once your application is completed and approved, a clearance document is immediately provided that can be saved as a PDF to your desktop device.
2. Child Abuse History Clearance
Volunteers can obtain this document online, at no cost, from PATCH (Pennsylvania Access to Criminal History). Once your application is completed and approved, a clearance document is immediately provided that can be saved as a PDF to your desktop device.
3. Signed Disclosure Statement or FBI Fingerprint-Based Record Check (If PA Resident less than 10 years)
If a Pennsylvania resident for 10 years or more, the third document adult volunteers need is a signed disclosure statement. Click the button below to download.
If a Pennsylvania resident for LESS than 10 years, an adult volunteer is instead required to obtain, as their third document, an FBI Fingerprint-Based Record Check. Visit the website for PA’s Department of Human Services for more information. Use code 1KG6ZJ. Click here to visit website.
Upload Your Documents
Once you have all three required documents, please use our secure portal to upload your information. Volunteer requests will be denied if all three documents are not included.
